Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Nordlys by Candela

Pulsed light or IPL (from the English “Intense Pulsed light”) emits a broad band of light that allows to treat spots, veins or rough skin texture, dilation of pores and thus overall improve the quality of the skin by stimulating the formation of collagen and providing a lot of luminosity to the skin.

Provides uniform global rejuvenation of the face, neck, décolleté and hands. It is useful for anyone who wants to improve the quality of their skin, but especially in patients with photoaging, acne or couperose-rosacea.

At what age?

It can be used at any age. In fact, it is used to treat vascular lesions, such as angiomas in babies and children. Also, in adolescents for facial acne. For facial rejuvenation, it is recommended for patients who see lentigines (sun spots), facial telangiectasias (veins), dilated pore or poorer quality skin texture (less luminosity).

How many sessions are needed?

It depends a lot on the photoaging of the patient. Normally between 1-4 sessions is recommended. In general, it is recommended to carry out a reminder session once a year to maintain the desired effect, especially in patients with rosacea or couperosis, since it is a chronic pathology that progressively reappears.

Does it have contraindications?

It should be used with caution in patients who are taking photosensitive medication, in high phototypes (very dark skin) and in patients with melasma-type pigmentation, as it can make it worse.

Do the spots disappear forever?

Lentigo-type lesions usually improve almost definitively in most cases, but since our skin has memory, it is most likely that solar lentigines will continue to appear in that area and in others.
